Forestland
Conservation Colllaboratives seeks partners and opportunities to invest in land parcels of high conservation that are under threat from parcelization, development, and unsustainable logging practices in the next quarter century. We plan to recover the invested principal with interest through a combination of revenue sources including sustainable forestry, carbon offsets, limited development, and/or alternative land use.
In sum, we aim to permanently conserve at least 95 percent of our forestland. Our goal is to replicate this approach across a portfolio of forest properties with multiple investors. For more information, please contact us at info@conservationcollaboratives.com.
Victory Forest
In 2006, Conservation Collaboratives and partners purchased over 1,000 acres of conservation critical forestland. The land can best be described as a private in-holding that sits at the core of Victory State Forest and Victory Bog Wildlife Management Area (20,000 acres). This We are working to rehabilitate the property, which was damaged by destructive logging practices. Our efforts are focused on erosion control, wildlife habitat improvements, recreational opportunities, and the rehabilitation of existing structures.
Through the restoration and sale of a cabin and house, the sale of a conservation easement, carbon offsets, and sustainable forestry, we aim to fund the long-term conservation of this property. This effort will expand a wildlife corridor that reaches across Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.
Land Details
- Contiguous with 20,000 acres of unfragmented state lands surrounding the Victory Basin; and nearly contiguous with over 130,000 acres of conserved forests of the former Champion Lands.
- Separated by a few miles of state-owned forest from Burke Mountain ski resort, where the development of 1,000 units of housing, as well as a golf course is planned.
- Primarily Northern Hardwood and Spruce‐Fir Forests
- Rolling terrain with steep sections on south side of Umpire Mountain (3,051’). Elevations range from approximately 1,400’ to 2,600’.
- Good access to property on a well maintained town road.
